Quick Shifts 1/3: MacKinnon's A Beauty And Bellows Is A Superstar

I don’t think that Nathan MacKinnon is underrated by any stretch. He was a #1 overall pick, was an All Star last year and I think the majority of casual fans at least know his name. But I feel like MacKinnon’s skill was always overshadowed over the last couple of seasons in Colorado with everybody only talking about the Duchene rumors. He also gets overshadowed by the other ridiculously talented and young #1 overall picks in this league like McDavid and Matthews. But with Duchene out of Colorado and MacKinnon now top 5 in the league with 48 points in 39 games, it’s time that everybody talks about him like the elite level stud that he is. And while it’s not surprising that Nathan MacKinnon is having an MVP-caliber year so far, it is surprising that the Avalanche are right in the playoff mix in the West midway through the season.
